Ayrton Sennas accident

Post by Jack W » Fri, 14 Jun 1996 04:00:00

Hello everybody,

If anyone can, please send me an AVI-File or a video of Ayrton Sennas
deadly accident-race in Imola.
I have never seen this horrible race, and I would like to have a look at
it!
I believe Senna was the best driver so far, but Schumacher is on his best
way.

You must be really ***ing stupid then -- it's not as if he said he wanted
to jack-off to it.  Jesus...  When a LEGEND dies, OF COURSE people want to see
how (especially if it proves it wasn't Ayrton's fault)

It was a fatigued steering column shaft that was too thin -- that was
botch-jobbingly fitted to his car in a rush, but Williams brushed it under a
large rug; ALLEDGEDLY.

Not the real Rod Hull..

Anyone out there who does have any footage of the Imola tragedy, there are several of us
out here who would be willing to purchase a copy. No, I don't want to jack-off to it
either, but I am a devoted Senna fan who never saw his final race (albeit incomplete).
Standard VHS format would be the most convenient, but any information about obtaining
footage would be appreciated.

I thought it was just me thinking this.  Morbid people.

Either Hill is braver than we thought for getting back into his car or
maybe he has more sense than to listen to scurrilous rumours from
*** theorists.

The 'rumour' only regards Ayrton Sennas car - he wanted a steering wheel angle
change, from what I heard from the '*** theorists'.  There were photos of it
etc.  Are you saying it's #all# a ***?  They only want to prove that it was
an error on behalf of the engineers - not Mr. Senninha himself.
You seem to be reluctant to even think that it could have been a mechanical breakage
and Williams, understandably I suppose, cover it up.
Scurrilous: nice word!

Forget about the '*** Theory' regarding the allegeged failure
of the steering column.

What I want to know is why there were no tyre barriers or other saftey
devices allong that section of the Imola track? Maybe such a feature
could have reduced the impact of the crash.

Ps. Are you really sure you want to see the footage. I saw it live on
Eurosports, including the 'rescue' and track side medical attention in
technicolour. It is not particularly attractive.

Yet one more time....

While Senna's impact was not insignificantly minor, it was quite survivable.
It was the unfortunate trajectory that a suspension piece happened to take
which penetrated his helmet/visor that caused his fatal injury.  He sustained
no other injuries in the accident, no broken bones, nothing (only minor
bruising from the belts).

That particular corner places the wall at an awakward position, too close to
the track to effectively use a tire wall and/or gravel trap, but far enough
away to allow for many different angles of impact.  Placing a tire wall might
have changed the outcome for Senna (virtually any minor change in the accident
would changed the outcome), but it would also represent a greater risk for
a driver that might simply run-off wide and only light brush the wall at an
acute angle.  Tire barriers are best suited to absorbing impacts that are
at highly obtuse (head on) angles, but add to the *** of the impact
when more acute (glancing blows) angles occur (especially at higher speeds).

Just because Ant doesn't want to see this race again doesn't mean you
should criticise others for wanting to watch it.  In fact Sennas crash
was only one of about 4 major incidents (all bad).  As that race has
had such an impact on F1 since, a F1 fan who hasn't seen the race ought
to, just to see how bad it was.
Unfortunately Jack I do not have this in video but good luck
trying to track it down.

Cheers
