Michael Henderson of Daily telegraph in one of his many triads about
srilankan cricketers has this to say about the fast bowler Chamida Vaas
on Tuesday's edition of the newspapaer.
...........................
The severe reprimand, of course, is the Milky Bar of this series. More
or less everybody has got one, and Croft is one of the more unfortunate
recipients. Vaas, who is big and ugly enough to haunt a house, simply
stood in the middle of the pitch after a delivery, as he has done so
often, and Croft had to bump him out of the way to complete a run.

.............
What this baboon of a reporter doesn't relaise that the bowler has the
right of space and its the batter who has to run round the bowler.
What a journalist this ape is!!!!

Well, it seems you've got Henderson's number pretty accurately, then.

Please don't think that just because CricInfo sees fit to put all of
Henderson's drivel on their site that there are many, even any,
English fans who agree with him about anything more controversial than
whether or not the sun is out (and even then most of us would sneak a
quick look out of the window to check).

Henderson writes for the Daily Telegraph, a newspaper whose consistent
editorial line on foreigners is that they are at best untrustworthy,
but mostly just despicable. He is obviously an ideal writer for such a
rag.

Quite a lot of us find this stance pretty damn offensive to start
with, and get even more upset when it is quoted as being typical of
the English cricket supporter.

In future, please do not ascribe Henderson's vile calumnies against
foreigners as representing anything other than the personal prejudices
of an obnoxious git.

Cheers,

Mike

Unlike the Guardian, which, as a quick perusal of today's "comment" pages will
confirm, is a fair-minded and rigorous journal firmly in touch with reality.

Calling Michael Henderson a baboon, however, is a slur on all tree-dwelling
primates everywhere.

I'm sure if you re-arrange these words you make a well-known phrase or saying, but
I'm be-jiggered if I can work it out..

sorry, which grauniad leader are you objecting to? they all seem pretty liberal,
mealy-mouthed and unobjectionable to me. Then there's Hardy, AL Kennedy, Freedland
and Montefiore who balance each other out rather nicely...

Regardless of his personal attributes Henderson is correct about the law,
it is
unfair play to willfully obstruct the batsman!  See below:

5. Deliberate distraction or obstruction of batsman
In addition to 4 above, it is unfair for any member of the fielding side,
by word or action, willfully
to attempt to distract or to obstruct either batsman after the striker has
received the ball.

But Vaas did not willfully obstruct Croft. Vaas completed his blowing stride
and Croft ran into him. The law is very specific on this the batsman should
run around the bowler9 Or the fielder). It is the batter's fault.
