Sanath, Hashan to lead Board President's teams  Against  Pakistan
at Matara and Kurunegala

Sri Lanka Test batsmen Sanath Jayasuriya and Hashan  Tillekeratne
will  lead  the  respective  Sri Lanka Board President's XI teams
against the touring Pakistan cricketers at Matara and  Kurunegala

The dashing left-hander from the South, Jayasuriya  will  captain
the  team in the lung-opener 3-dayer at Uyanwatte Stadium, Matara
from July 23- 25.

Tillekeratne will lead the side in the second 3-  day game start-
ing on July 28 at the Welagedera Stadium,  Kurunegala.

Both teams comprise cricketers who  are  trying  to  re-establish
themselves  in  the  national team and those on the fringe of na-
tional recognition.

ln the absence of regular opener Roshan Mahanama who has gone  to
Australia  to  undergo a knee  operation,  the national selectors
have named four probable  candidates  for  the  openers  berth  -
Athula  Samarasekera  and  Aruna  Gunawardena for the Matara game
and, Chandika Hathurusingha and Duleep Samaraweera for  Kurunega-

Focus will also be on two left-arm spinners, the experienced  Don
Anurasiri  who  is  on  a comeback trail and the bowler tipped to
succeed him, Ajith Ekanayake.

However,  the most notable inclusion is that  of  Jayananda  War-
naweera,  the  controversial  right-arm  off-cutter  who has been
given a chance to regain his place in the Sri  Lanka  team  after
being  most  mysteriously  left out since the twin series against
India and South Africa last year.

Pakistan are due to arrive for a eight -  week tour of Sri  Lanka
tomorrow  and  play  a  series  of  three Tests and three one-day
Internationals in addition to three side games.  They  will  also
stay  back to participate in the 4-nation Singer World Series for
which Australia and India are also expected.
