Firstly I'm sure seven bowlers in a day is no record but it doesn't
seem at all common these days.  I suppose if you play five specialists
you're going to get close pretty easily.

Secondly why did Peter Such bowl so little?  He had perfectly
respectable figures and, from the little radio commentary I heard,
seemed to be troubling at least  Taylor.  Injury seems unlikely as
he's bowling as I write this.  Is this another stick with which to
beat poor Gooch?

Thirdly, Mark Waugh ... 99 ... what a silly lad!

Actually Such appears to be nursing a slightly dodgy ankle, ever
since he chased one in the covers early on on the first day.
Illingworth in particular has been commenting Such is not swivelling much
on his front foot as he delivers...

England's bowling figures:

Quote:

>Bowling               O     M     R     W
>Caddick               38    5    120    0
>Foster                30    4     94    0

>Gooch                  9    1     26    0
>Hick                   8    3     21    0

I believe Mike Atherton is able to bowl some sort of leg spin.
Given the mammoth Australian total and lack of wickets, why
didn't Gooch give him a go?  Pretty unimaginative captaincy
if you ask me.
