by mohinder amarnath was out trying to prevent the ball from hitting the stumps
in a one-day match in australia a few years ago. he played the ball and the
ball was rolling towards the stumps. panicking, he tried to palm the ball
away. immediately he realised he was wrong and started walking. i can still
remember the look on his face ( thank u, channel nine! )as he was walking
back to the pavilion. it was a mixture of shame and laughter and regret for
having lost a good opportunity to score useful runs. he had been having a
good season. anyway, the rule says that a batsman cannot use his hands while
dealing with the ball!!
