Indian Players in County Cricket

Indian Players in County Cricket

Just to clear up this thread, India has NO players in County Cricket this
year. Tendulkar was dropped by Yorkshire because of India's tour of Sri
Lanka in July, which would have meant him missing a large chunk of the
season.

Azharuddin has never been a regular county cricketer. He played one season
for Derby as a replacement for Ian Bishop when the latter was injured.

There have been a couple of problems in recent years with Indian cricketers
playing county or league cricket in England due to the fact that the Indian
season starts a good month or so before the English season ends. There was
a case last year where two Indian cricketers playing in one of the Lancashire
leagues (Wasson and somebody else) both left their clubs at the end of July,
claiming long-term illnesses, but then both "recovered" enough to start the
Indian season a week or so later. This particular league has advised all
of its clubs not to employ Indian professionals because of this incident.
