England                                         FOW
Gooch   c May           b Hughes        12      33
-- caught attempting a hook/pull and getting a top edge
Atherton                not out         54
Gatting                 b May           5       50
-- got confident after hitting May for four and was bowled through
-- a gate big enough to drive a tractor through when he went for
-- a big drive
Smith   st Healy        b May           22      84
-- Went down the pitch but missed the ball down legside and Healy
-- made the stumping. Then we had to put up with the damn TV replay
-- to find out his bat had not been grounded although behind the
-- crease.
Hick    c Healy         b Hughes        20      123
-- A really REALLY (I mean it) soft dismissal. Softened up with some
-- non bouncing bouncers he played a weak as***cut to a ball
-- and top edged to Healy. The next Bradman he aint.
Stewart lbw             b Hughes        3       131
-- Right on tea, it kept low and he was trying to play across the line
-- Stewart thought it may have missed leg, I thought it probably would
-- have hit.
Extras 7lb 8nb                          15
                5 out for               131
        Overs M  R  W
Hughes  11.5  3  32 3
-- another ***y good effort.
M Waugh 6     1  15 -
-- I guess somebody had to open without McD
S Waugh 4     1  5  -
-- I guess someone else had to stop the spinners bowling in the first hour.
May     19    6  46 2
-- Turned the ball more than Warne and looked likely. The ball that got
-- Gatting turned appreicably. Looks good for the 2ns innings.
Warne   13    2  34 -
-- Surprisingly didn't seem to turn it as much as May.

I've revised my outlook and say an Australian victory by an innings now
rather than the draw. I don't know what the English were bowling but it
wasn't test standard.

Wow! This guy is getting better and better! So much for the excuse that
Warne was the cause of all the trouble.
