I am retiring and eating Bondas rest of my life

Post by Javagal Srinat » Mon, 25 Sep 2000 04:00:00

I have been a total failure for India. I have been unable to win
any tests for India abroad. I don't think I deserve to be in the Indian
side. I bowled short all the time and the none too fancied
Zimbabwean batsmen made mockery of " blistering , scorching pace" .
Compare that to Chris Cairns and Shane O'Connor who got rid
of Zimbabwean batsmen easily and helped NZ win the test there.
I have come to the conclusion that all the foll. bowlers though who
are not as much hyped by their fellow country-men as I have been by
chest-thumping journalists like Harsha Bhogale have helped their country
win a test abroad or a World cup and hence are thousand times
better than me since I have been able to do nada whenever we played
abroad. Also I would like to apologise to my  Indian fans for the countless
matches we have lost cause of me getting run-out. Also I hope that all
non-Indian sports fans got to enjoy some comedy for free by watching me
get runout.
Here are their names:
1) Headley
2) Foster
3) Devon Malcom
4) Gladstone Small
5) Chris Cairns
6) Shane O'Connor
7) Zoysa
8) Chaminda Vaas
9) Phil De Fraites
10) Henry Olonga
11) Neil Johnson
 etc etc.

Had ANY of the above players played for India rather than me we would
have had some test wins abroad.

Anyway the latest victory by NZ is too much for me to handle and i retire
in shame, disgust, disgrace . I am going to spend rest of my life eating
Bondas .

Look, I am beginning to really wish that someone would post a recipe
for Bonda's here.  I'm a vegetarian, and I have come to the conclusion,
from discussion here, that the only reason that I am not at the
standard of the Indian bowlers is because I have never had a bonda in
my life.  I know it will mean that I can only bowl decently at home,
but given that at the moment I can't even manage that, I think it is
worth the risk.

Plus, I'm hungry.

Cheers

Di

You should just go to www.google.com and do a search for "bonda recipe".
I'm sure you'll get a lot of hits.

In fact, I just tried it and I *did* get a lot of relevant hits -
links to recipes for different types of bondas viz. Mysore Bonda, Potato
Bonda, Bread Bonda, Sabudhana Bonda, Rava Bonda, Maida Bonda, etc.

There are a lot of Indian websites on the Internet and I can name quite a
few dedicated to Indian *cuisine* alone. After all, the cuisine is one of
India's major "exports", which those who've travelled a fair bit around
the globe would've have noticed.

In southern India, and perhaps also western India, the bonda is quite a
common dish, and hence unlikely to not find a mention on a site dedicated
to Indian cuisine.

subject - Sadiq Yusuf. ;-)

Having recently discovered the joys of bonda all I can say is: "Lucky
bastard!"

BTW - has anyone noticed Srinath's pot belly?  Bonda is deep FRIED
isn't it?

Well that's true, Java, and you should be ashamed of that. I looked up
your stats and saw that your Test bowling average was 25 at home and 35
away. But you're not alone. Think about your good friend Anil Kumble.
He averages 21 at home and 39 away. So don't put all the blame on
yourself, otherwise you won't have the stomach for eating Bondas.

Best of luck in retirement. You've been a great competitor. And go easy
on the Bondas.

Just FYI, the 'bon' in 'bonda' is pronounced 'bone' and not like the 'fon'
in 'fond'.
