Shastri if he  plays with the form with which he played between 88-93 can be
12th man.

Hi Niranjan

Hats off ! I couldnt think of a better team. Each and every player u
mentioned is commendable. With such a team , cricket wont be a sport any
more. Other test playing nations will give up playing out of fear. They
know that this team , to win , will need more than a bat and ball. U know
what I mean !!!!

How could I ever forget him ? Maybe we can kick Ashok
Malhotra out and put him in instead.

I don't know about SA, but a team consisting of:

Gordon Greenidge
Desmond Haynes
Viv Richards
Garfield Sobers
Clive Lloyd
Brian Lara
Jeffrey Dujon
Michael Holding
Lance Gibbs
Malcolm Marshall
Joel Garner
Gus Logie (12th Man)

would mop the floor with anybody.

An all time Australian XI is harder (been around longer) but a batting
lineup containing Don Bradman, Bill Ponsford, Greg Chappell and Neil
Harvey, with bowlers like Bill O'Reilly, Denis Lillee, Jeff Thompson
and Ray Lindwall would be equally hard to beat!

Also considered for selection were Rudra Pratap Singh, Prashant Vaidya
and Rajinder Singh Ghai. Paras Mhambrey was also discussed.

 hey aditya ,
you must be kidding. This is the most illustrous team ever. Dont insult
it by assigning it a manager. They are talented enough to manage
themselves. Also Shastri wd give these players complexes in their bid to
out-stupid each other. No one can be more stupid than Shastri. Seeing this
the morale of this team may become low. Not a good sign for the world
Champions.>

Wow, seeing the overwhelming response to this thread, I am
thinking of posting an ALTERNATE ALL-TIME INDIAN TEST XI (examples :
Kambli, R.P.Singh, Subroto Banerjee). What do you say, guys Dinesh,
Aditya, etc ? I think can India can peacefully manage 2 or 3 all time
test XI's !!

Niranjan.
