It is very hard to say which bowler was the fastest. Measurements to determine
a bowlers speed were rarely taken, during match conditions. Judging from what
I saw, coupled with aural reports, I would have to say that Thommo probably had
a hair more than the others... but boy, could he spray the ball. A similar bowler
was Wayne Daniel, who was unfortunate not to play many Tests due to the Windies
surfeit of great pace bowlers. He could, however, get up to great speed, when all
cylinders were firing.
In terms of being consistently fast, as opposed to the fastest individual ball,
I would have to say Michael Holding. Due to this rythmic motion, every damn ball
was a scorcher.
I don't think Sylvester was ever up to the pace of Thommo, Holding or Daniel.
