Cricket, Pakistan and Israel

Just read the Reuter agency news that Israel is calling for
boycott of Pakistan by other criket playing countries.

It seems that an Israeli delegate (Israel is an ICC minor
member country) was invited by PILCOM for the Semi-Finals
and the Finals of the recently held world cup. Israel and
Pakistan do not have any diplomatic relationship and the
Israeli deligate was denied Visa to attend the Lahore
Finals.

Efforts by Israel and ICC were useless and basically the
Israely delegate was snubbed and sent home.

I think it is deplorable.

One can add this too to the list of the illustrious
'achievements' of PILCOM. Of course, the PILCOM can not be
directly held responsible for this, but surely the world
cup in Pakistan was being run by highly placed officials
(and non-officials like Ms.Bhutto's husband) and somehting
could have been done about this embarassing situation?

I find this hard to believe.  Why would Pakistan, a member of PILCOM,
agree to invite a party knowing that the government of Pakistan
would refuse that party a visa?

This is sad and embarrassing.
