Australian Selectors should be shot

I t hink that the Australian selectors should be made to justify their
Selection of Mark Taylor over Matthew Hayden.  Taylor is part of the
reason we lost the series against the W. Indies and is still playing
badly.

The sam way they can justify the continued selection of a player with a
bowling average of 50 (Matthews). In fact I have no problem with the
selection of Taylor to tour New Zealand, I will if they play him in the
eleven. I would prefer to see Hayden given the long tour of England to
start out. I think the England tour should see all the selected batsmen
start out even and then selected on county form.

As for the spinners, never has been very effective but then again I
think they will be blunted a bit on the slower NZL pitches relying
on flight more than anything because of the slowness.

The problem here is that in 89 Taylor demonstrated himself to be a brilliant
batsman, the next Bradman, blah blah blah. Next thing you know he was being
groomed to be captain, and loses the plot :-(. I think if he can't come out of
the slump he should go back to Shield cricket with Lehmann, Nobes, Bevan and
all the other has-beens, and give Healy a shot at the captaincy. If only
Australia had a reliable batsman who wasn't a Taswegian!

Every Aus batsman with the exception of Boon was the reason we lost the series
against WI. But I agree Taylor is being given more chances than he should.
Perhaps the reason is that the tour to England is coming up and on the last tour
Taylor was ***. Conditions in NZ are reasonably similar so the NZ tour
is a good lead up. And the same could be said for why Steven Waugh is still
in the team. Just the same I hope Hayden goes to England and gets a chance
to establish himself in the team as Taylor and Waugh did last time.

Taylor's problem is only another chapter in the saga:
The Curse of Australian Vice-Captaincy.

Look at some of the vice-captains in the last twenty years and see how their
form has declined upon receiving the job.  Taylor is just carrying on this tradition,
following in the footsteps of Geoff Marsh.

Tough *** if the Aussies are having a bit of trouble with their big
stars, they can't have Hayden.
QLD for the Shield.
Besides Hayden's 80 odd against NZ seems to have shored up his spot a
bit :-).
