Karachi, Dec. 15. (AFP) - Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram
has dismissed allegations by fellow speedster Waqar
Younis that he was kept out of the team because of a
personal grudge.
"I have no personal grudge against him," Akram said. "The
question of whether injustice has been done to him or if
he is being mistreated by me in the team can only be
judged by looking at his performance in tests and one-
dayers in the last one year," Akram told The News
yesterday.
Younis has not been selected for the triangular one-day
series against Australia and India scheduled to start on
January 6 in Australia and has accused Akram of ruining
his career.
"Selectors kept on selecting me and he kept on pushing me
out. Waqar is a great bowler and Waqar's story cannot be
a forgotten story," the 28-year-old Younis had said in an
interview to AFP. "He was unfair to me, to the fans and
the game. I have been sitting on the bench for the last
18 months. Is it fair?"
Younis had said: "He is a great cricketer and I respect
him as a cricketer but I cannot call him a great human
being. If he has grudge against me, the best place to
settle that is inside a room and not at the ground."
