"LH Batsman, RH bowler" galore in India

Post by j sreedh » Mon, 13 Oct 1997 04:00:00

This seems to be the fashion in India nowdays. We already
have Ganguly and Robin Singh in the ODI team, and now there
are H.Kanitkar and S.Sharath. :-)

Do Rohan Gavaskar, Amay Khurasia, Amit Pagnis etc. bowl with
their Right Hand?? :-)

Ciao,

Kambli is alleged to bowl right-arm off-breaks when noone is looking
 :-)

Not so long ago, we had Ravi Shastri, Venkatapathi Raju and Maninder
Singh, who did the exact opposite of what these g'men are doing.
 Times change.

heh! Kambli also throws the ball from the outfield with his right hand,
no?

I knew about Shastri, but not the other 2.

What ?? You did'nt know about Maninder, the ace right-hand bat, who even
scored a century in Ranji ? Shame on you :-)

Waiting for the day Prasad scores a century,

Niranjan.

.....Yeah, but can he bat :-)??

Cheers
Ragamuffin (who *does* realize that Kambli was declared best bat in the Ch.
Series).

The ex-Don is a rather decent bat within his limitations: no fast
rising stuff, no seaming tracks, and the more of Shane Warne the
  better :-)

Great batsman he isn't, but he should be a good pick in India
against most teams. The only problem is, whom does he replace
in the middle order? Ganguly, Sachin, Azhar and Dravid are
  distinctly better bats.

I would add Sidhu to that list, for Tests. Sidhu is comfortable
against pace and spin alike.

In my book, Kambli is currently at the same level as VVSLaxman.
One step above Amol Muzumdar, S.Sharath, H.Kanitkar etc.

........not as dependable, though!

.......you wouldn't know until these guys actually play international cricket.
But yes, he is a good bat.  If his head gets screwed in the right direction, he
could be a great one.  81* off 49 at Bangalore?  Sign of things to come I hope.

Cheers,
Ragamuffin

Actually, I felt that, Kambli's performance was Particularly directed
at two of his Bitter critics in this Forum, who were in the ground.
One of the two was ME.  The other is too embrassed to post :-))

cheers
raj (yeah! One festival match does not make a summer!)

p.s; Kambli's two balls were a Joke, though he got wickets!  But his
batting was exquisite.  Obviously the ball was not bouncing
     above the knee cap :-))

Is the ex-Don reading our posts? Here we were, s***ing at his
bowling and batting, and he goes and takes two wickets in two
balls, and follows it up with 81 runs in double quick time.

The Lankans weren't fully charged up, but Kambli did look well in
control. Looks like the fielding restrictions were to his liking. It
would do Indian cricket a lot of good if he keeps this form up.

But then, one festival match doesn't make a summer ...

What's all this SRT stuff about.  Here in America that stands for
special response team.  Well, I'd hardly call Sachin that.  Anyway, I
was wondering what the R in Sachin's name stands for.  If I don't find
out soon, I think the Indian government might revoke my citzenship on
the grounds of lack of concern for the national religion.
