Congratulations to Raymond Illingworth on making his first appointment as the
new supremo of English  cricket.I do not refer to Mike Atherton's
reappointmnet but the appointment of SIR GEOFF BOYCOTT as England's new
batting guru.An obvious step in the right direction and not before time
either.Sir Geoff is being paid 400 per day and still reckons he's
underated. He'll show our batsmen how to tame Curtly and Courtney.
"You've got to get FORWARD" is a phrase which will frequently be heard on the
English training grounds.
Nice one Illy.

P.S. C'mon Yorkshire.Yorkshire are currently THRASHING Lancashire in the war
of the roses match.Congratulations to David Byas 193.I have to admit that
Australia do have one good batsman in Michael Bevan.Good hundred scored on
Saturday and he'll soon be adopted as a tyke if he keeps that form up.

Oh good old Geoff. One of the most talented, but overwhemingly SLOW and
EXCRUCIATINGLY BORING batsmen of all time. I used to catch up on my sleep
when I watched him and John Edrich open for England :)

It's great to see you back GR because we have all missed your controversy!
What I want to know is, how come you're talking about English cricket
now instead of resuming*** shit on the Aussies? Maybe you could
write a poem to celebrate the Waugh's hundreds.

Oh god, not the Lancs-Yorks thing. If you thought the India-Pakistan thing was
bad enough, just wait till this takes off.

Unfortunately (?) Illy and Boycott could not come to agreement. One
stumbling block was rumoured to be that Boycott's TV work for the BBC
this summer could lead to his having to pass adverse comments on
players whom he would be coaching. So John Edrich has got the batting
coach job and Peter Lever the bowling job. These are both
contemporaries of Illy's, when younger men might have been a better
idea.

Unfortunately it isn't Sir Geoffrey (too expensive?) it's good old John
Edrich!

Judging by your past work I would suggest that writing poems is
indeed a severe challenge for you!

GB was offered the job but turned it down. Reason unknown.
