Mumbai, Dec. 16 (UNI) - The Indian team management in
Australia comprising captain Sachin Tendulkar, coach
Kapil Dev and manager M.K. Bhargava wanted Sameer Dighe,
not Nayan Mongia, as the back-up keeper for the injured
M.S.K. Prasad.
According to a report in a Mumbai eveninger, the Indian
team management in Australia had asked for Sameer Dighe,
but got Nayan Mongia.
The report further quoted the Chairman of Selectors,
Chandu Borde, as saying that initially the team
management had asked for a replacement; only the next day
did they specify Dighe's name. "By then it was too late
since we had already selected Mongia and all the
formalities had been completed."
Not for commercial use. Solely to be fairly used for the
educational purposes of research and open discussion.
