Is there any quick way to find out who are the asian players in action
in the county season? As of now I see the following, but not sure how
long their contract is:
Murali: Lancashire
D Mongia: Somerset
Vaas: Worcestershire
Jayasuriya: Liecestershire

Dunno.

You have the counties of Mongia and Jayasuriya reversed.

Others I can think of:
Danish Kaneria (Essex)
Mushtaq Ahmed (Sussex)
Upul Chandana (Gloucestershire)
Irfan Pathan (Middlesex)
Azhar Mahmood & Harbhajan Singh (Surrey)
Shoaib Akhtar (Worcestershire, from 1 July replacing Vaas)
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan (Sussex, from mid-June)
Malinga Bandara (Gloucestershire, to replace Chandana if and only if the
latter is selected for Sri Lanka in July and August)

Sourav Ganguly (no county, but he'd like to find one)

Doubtless there are others, and will be more as the season progresses.

I doubt you see those, exactly, as Jayasuriya is playing for Somerset
and Mongia for Leics.

Irfan Pathan is about to play for Middx as short-term cover for the
injured Nancy Hayward, and there are rumours that Kumble is going to
turn up in August after Styris goes home. Mushtaq Ahmed is still with
Sussex, and Azhar Mahmood is again with Surrey. Harbhajan Singh is
also supposed to be playing for Surrey, but will not until ICC are
happy with his action. Chandana's currently with Glos, and Danish
Kaneria and Shoaib Akhtar are due to turn up later for Essex and Worcs
respectively (the latter presumably in place of Vaas). The entire
Bangladesh squad are playing too, though not only against counties.

Cheers,

Mike

I gather Glamorgan are pretty desperate.

Although not county as such, it should also be noted that Gyan Pandey led
Todmorden to victory on Sunday with an unbeaten century, apparently
untroubled by a Nelson attack led by some hack named Hauritz (20-3-74-1).

I imagine the 16 wickets he took in two matches against England 'A' in March
made a difference.

I'm sure he was or is the overseas player for Normandy in the Surrey
Championship! Didn't get to face him last year, as I was last to turn up
- so had to open the batting, which only last 10 overs! Doh!

Yes.  Bandara played for Normandy in 2003 and 2004.

Apparently they have decided to engage a second overseas player after all,
and drawn up a shortlist of three batsmen.  Two names thought to be on this
list are Chris Rogers of Western Australia and VVS somebody-or-other, which
still leaves room for Ganguly.
