Ganguly says his team made him a successful captain

Ganguly today agreed that he was successful as a captain only because
the players he played with performed better on the field.

He then called out to the people of WB not to think that he was single
handedly responsible for Indian team's success calling it a myth
propagated by Fox News. He said he had no comments about two of his
chamchas sucking as captain in IPL.

In related news, Mr Lalit Modi, chairman and Commissioner of DLF
Indian Premier League, has announced a Rs. 2 lakh cash prize for
Harbhajan Singh for his latest antics, which have increased public
discussion about the IPL and will boost television ratings of the
fledgling competition. He also unveiled a glittering exhibit of the
Golden Gloves, which, he announced,  will be awarded each day to the
player who creates the most controversy on the field that day by
boxing, kicking or any other creative methods of physical ***.
"The purpose of this initiative is to be innovative, create another
unique piece of history that sets the DLF Indian Premier League apart
form the crowd, and to reward outstanding achievements by the
players'', he said.

Cheers,

TD

Ganguly is simply being gallant and graceful.  True, he had a few
great cricketers in his team, but there is no doubt that he started
the 2nd renaissance in Indian cricket with his attitude and his
pride.  I have to admit, what I enjoy most is how he totally pisses
off that miserable set of brown sahibs in India and on this
forum!  :-)

Of course, the fact that he got to captain a clean set of players who
wanted to prove themselves right after the match fixing filth was
filtered out is just a coincidence.

No one is saying that he did not have a lot of good players.  But if
you have ever managed a team of prima-donnas at work, you would know
how difficult it is to lead a bunch of big egos; and yet, when Ganguly
was at the helm, there was never any doubt about who the leader was!

Ganguly had the right attitude to take on the likes of Waugh and
Ponting.  People do not realize how good he eventually was for Indian
cricket and parenthetically for the game at large.

So when Ganguly became the captain who were these players who (would
have otherwise) behaved like prima-donnas?
