Murali 150 wickets - Congratulations.....

Post by Buddhi Wickramaarachch » Sat, 17 Jan 1998 04:00:00

He has proven them wrong. So my congratulations to him. Considering the
amount of stress he had been through, it is indeed a great achievement.
Umpiring is not an easy job. But one must be flexible enough to admit, or
correct the mistakes.

Buddhi.

p.s.  Rick  -  Hair called Murali, when bowling leg brakes.

Look, whatever you reckon. But Hair DID NOT call Murali "bowling" "leg
breaks". I defy you to show where such a thing occurred.

Ah, but the original poster was talking about "leg brAKEs".

I think what *you* happen to be referring to, is something ever so
slightly different :-)

Cheers,

Harish (who agrees with Josh of course, but this was just too good to
        pass up, nonetheless)

I didn't know "Hair" was a generic term for every Australian umpire.

Read the rules, the umpire is required to call a bowler for throwing if he is
not convinced of the legality of the delivery. Muralidharan's action is
sufficiently strange that I would find it tough to believe that anyone can be
completely convinced that it is legal with the *** eye. I believe that his
action is legal.

Nope, Muralidharan didn't bowl any leg breaks in the Perth test match which was
where Hair called him. He bowled leg breaks in a one day match (I believe it was
in Brisbane) and was called by Emerson.

Err, the Test match in question was at Melbourne, not Perth.

Don't take it so seriously. We all make typos, and occasionally they
become the ***of jokes. I doubt anything personal is meant. :-)

Hay Mic,
Are you actually trying to tell us they actually know what a fact is?
I was under the impression they were from the Edmundo school of
thinking...

Oops, now I'm getting the noballing for throwing confused wih the reports for
ball tampering. I put it down to the fact that I was struggling with my ISP at
that time.
