Zimbabwe vs Pakistan (3D2T - Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Dec 11)

Zimbabwe were within sight of their first Test victory on Saturday
after overtaking Pakistan's first innings score and then reducing the
world champions to 40 for three.  Resuming on the third day of the
second Test at 129-4, Alistair Campbell and Mark Dekker hit 63 and 68
respectively to take Zimbabwe to 254, in reply to Pakistan's first
innings score of 245.

Eddo Brandes and Heath Streak then made the most of encouraging
conditions by snapping up three quick wickets after tea.  Streak
removed Shoaib Mohammed for 13 and then trapped fellow opener leg
before Aamer Sohail for nine.  That prompted Waqar Younis to send in
Ataur Rehman but the nigh***chman was quickly back in the pavillion
after being given out leg before for a duck off the bowling of
Brandes.

Errm.. Surely by definition both can co-exist. After all, an umpire is
neutral by virtue of his being an umpire, as far as I can tell.

Cheers,

Rohan.

Well, I haven't checked their passports, but the names sounded
Pakistani. For some reason I concluded that and do not wish to discuss
it. :)

Are there any reports on radio, TV, news media, that comment on the
umpiring in the Pak/Zim series? I have read some RSC postings on this
topic but the less said the better about ferreting out "umpiring
controversies" from scorecards. The question is, Has any reasonable
person said that the umpiring was unsatisfactory? I will accept
reporters, players, managers, journalists, even TV commentators as
reasonable people.

No, at least I am not aware of. In my opinion, if there are no comments
made on umpiring ,it has to be good.

Well.. you'll find all kinds of people everywhere.

See above. I doubt that anybody commented on umpiring.

But i have a question, what is the source of the news claiming that
Zm manager complimented umpiring?

Yeah, I bet you don't.

Only occassionally!  I belong to a school of thought that
tells me that the umpire can err, and very often the error leans him
toward his home side.  There are umpires (such as Steve Bucknor) that
almost never err in a bias manner, and then there are umpires (such as
Lloyd Barker) that err in the most unprofessional manner (e.g Asif
Mujtaba lbw Benjamin).
