Dharmani,Muzumdar,Sharath,Sriram & Kale are current players with the
HIGHEST batting avgs in the top 10 list in the history of WORLD
cricket, but never had a chance to play Test cricket.  All of 5 are
middle order batsmen from India and avgs are 51+.

very unfortunate bunch of folks indeed. then again, they are also the
contempararies of Tendulkar,Dravid and Laxman.  SRT and Dravid already
ATGs and Laxman with very superior batting avgs in domestic cricket
(and very reasonable in Test cricket) , the other folks had to miss
out. very understandable indeed.

But there are who argue that these 5 were much better than another
batsman who played 10+ years of Test for India in the same period.
certainly the stats indicate the Indian Test team would have been
better with one of these guys than an ex-captain named SG with a FC
batting avg of 44.

Your post is a rather misguiding.  I guess you omitted Sugwekar and
Bhave because they are no longer active.  But Dharmani, Kale, Sharath,
Muzumdar have certainly missed the boat as well, their days of aspiring
to play for India are long gone.

The actual list of top 10 players with the HIGHEST batting avgs in the
history of WORLD cricket, but never had a chance to play Test cricket
is as follows:

1.  Sugwekar at 63.10
2.  Bhave at 58.18
3.  Kale at 56.03
4. Sriram at 55.19
:

7: Sharath      at 52.81
:
9:  Muzumdar at 51.83
10: Dharmani at 51.23

As I mentioned in my other post, the top 3 players in the history of
cricket are from Maharashtra team; and anyone who has followed
Maharashtra cricket will not be surprised by that.  However, a special
mention of S Sharath has to be made here.  Sharath has been a
phenomenal player for TN for a very long time now.  He has never been
given any serious consideration for international cricket and several
lesser players from TN have been promoted.  Despite that, he has always
found ways to motivate himself and give his best for his team.  ditto
for Kale.

I said "current players with the HIGHEST batting avgs in the top 10
list".
I don't know how it is misguiding.  The complete list is in the link
provided - so I did not need to copy and paste here.

no doubt Sharat has been a standout performer for his state.
He was promoted to the south zone team within the first 2 years of his
FC cricket. Was selected to play for Rest of India within 3 years.
Unfortunately for him, did not get decent scores in the zonal matches.
not even a 50 for ROI.  The next time he was selected for ROI he got 59
and 8.     3rd appearance for ROI, he scored 26.
His ROI scores:  1,19,59,8,26.
A good performance for ROI for an youngster has been a straight ticket
to India Test XV for long.  3 appearance for ROI and one 50 does not
cut it.
He was selected to play for BP X1 against SL and got 0.

He has played zonal FC cricket for long and his first 100 for south
zone came in his 21st appearance. 40s and 50s are not going to make his
name appear on the radar.  He is probably luck to have gotten that many
chances at the zonal level.

In summary, he was taken seriously at the national level but could not
pass the test to get to the next level.

Yup. Getting his Dad to offer bribes to get him into the side is a
great motivator.
