Is it true some people call it The Bogan Bash?  Seems more accurate after Warnie's behaviour.

Is that actually Warne? Has a ringer perhaps been sent in? The person
in the pictures is about the right hight with the same colour hair,
but otherwise... either that or Shane's had some plastic surgery.

he has had Elizabeth Hurley so that means a list of the best plastic
surgeons

But back to the "Bash"  ... a small fine and a suspension and Sutherland
is***ing his lips  ....   at last some life has been breathed into the
competition

I will bet that the first ODI wont have the same crowd

Yes.

Warne's performances, note the plural, were the most disgraceful I've ever seen in an international cricket game. But it gets worse. That he got a $4,500 fine and a one T20 suspension is even more disgraceful. He should've got 12 months. By way of comparison, Boof copped a $3k fine for his comments on Marlon Samuels action and the processes that let him chuck away Merrily in the Hot Chook Sloggo.

And a great big 'Told You So' to those who bawled for Warne to captain Aust back in the days.

It's not really an international. The teams aren't picked by national
boards and the players are not representing countries. Presumably CA's
disciplinary code is in force rather than the ICC's

So Warne got a 50% greater fine AND a suspension.

A truck load of cricketers have commented on the 15deg rule. If a coach can't... who can?

Very few cricketers have done what Warnie did.

No news is bad news, so getting himself splashed in the papers probably earned Warnie an extra $50k this tax year.

Well I'm not up to speed with the CA COC, but it seems to me that,
wrongly or not, an official or player is courting trouble these days
commenting on a player's action. The press, unattached to any state or
national board, have a free pass as regards this matter, as do you and
I, but state coaches are required to work within the COC. So,
irrespective of Samuels action (and I do note that he seems to be the
lightning rod for controversy in the Big Bash), Lehman was in
contravention of the COC that he is bound to.

AND, to repeat, Warne got fined 50% more AND suspended for a match, so
he got hit substantially harder than Lehman did.

I didn't see it on TV, and I'm not defending it, but it seems he said
"*** you", which doesn't strike me as being unprecedented, grabbed
Samuels shirt because Samuels had earlier grabbed Hussey's shirt, and
then got into some shouting and finger pointing, which brings McGrath
and Sarwan to mind. Like I said, there's nothing that I would commend
in all of that, but it's not like the pits of hell suddenly opened up
and a fire-breathing demon came up to befoul the unsullied fields of
cricket.

Sure. But surely we're discussing "is the COC fair", as opposed to "was the penalty correct based on today's COC".

NB: I've also need seen it, but a lot of people at work have been chatting about it. I might have helped if the OP had posted a link, or if I could be bothered to google it. Although.. your description of Warnie has piqued my interest!

You and Alvey might be, and COC may be flawed, but the guys sitting in
judgement in disciplinary hearings have to apply the existing COC.

I suppose that a match between two sides from Melbourne may seem a
little *** to a gawping country yokel, but the rest of us would
still consider it a domestic game.

I see you're complying with that fine ng Law (not Stuart) wherein a post
which sniffs about an error contains an error itself.

"country yokel" = tautology.

Really? Warne behaved like an idiot, but I didn't see anything which
eclipsed say Miandad v Lillee or McGrath/Sarwan.  And I've not seen anything
in the same class as Croft running into Goodall.

The funniest thing about the Warne hearing was him being let off the charge
of throwing the ball at Samuels - that really was a joke.

I think Warne would be well suited to Jersey Shore, if he could master
the accent.
