Some people might remember Bobby (Bobji Narishima?) play a couple of
matches for India a good few years ago.
Bobby was an ecb staff coach instructor when I went to the ecb
coaching course about 10 years ago. He was my examiner for the exam.
If you ever met him you would never forget him.

I watched his unremarkable debut at Eden Gardens 30 plus years ago
against West Indies, when he had a shaven head. He looks to be
naturally bald now. Back then he had gotten a ritual tonsure at the
Tirupathi temple as soon as he had heard he was selected for India.

That test was the one the Packerized, but still strong, West Indies
lead by Kallicharan drew by blatant time wasting tactics ... Sew
Shivnarine was the chief culprit

What of Noel David these days? He played in Ireland I umpired some
games he played in. It was the Saintfield club, but I don't think he
returned for 2010.
Also Niranjan Godbole plays nearby, but I heard he wasn't returning
either. There was a full time director of cricket job available there
too. I like Godbole, he's a nice guy who works hard, and plays good
cricket.

We have a Pakistani guy who just turned up and joined our club, he's
as good as any of the local pros. I understand he was in the mix for
Pakistan u19 or something at one time. Clearly he is unaware that he
is the best player in the club.

I do remember Narasimha Rao and his brief test career as a spinning
all rounder and his robust contributions to Hyderabad in Ranjis.
Hyderabad could use a decent coach like him after the precipitous
decline in the last decade. With the current dispensation that runs
Hyderabad cricket (Shivlal Yadav and his cronies) being unbelievably
corrupt, I am not sure I wish this on him. It is really good to hear
that he has been contributing to cricket after his days in the middle
and is being recognized.

Noel David...I remember that name....he was an offie from Hyderabad
right...an MO bat too. was supposed to be an even better fielder than
Azza or Jadeja but I remember me and friends observing that he was a
little too much too good in the field....his enthusiasm ensured he
over-ran the ball or threw the ball back even before he fielded
it...;lol!

How was he as a batsman? seen him play?

Umpired a game couple or three years ago he was knocking sixes galore.
One hit went really high, an old lady was being pushed along the
boundary path in a wheelchair. The ball was swirling and the
wheelchair pusher didn't know to go back or forward in order to avoid
injury. It looked like the old lady was trying to catch it.
Bowling was wierd. He never looked like he was going to take a wicket,
but he had 4 in that match.

Would that be Noel David of the "Noel Who" fame?

I remember his debut and brief test career. He was a top rate close-in
catcher and in his two tests or so took a couple of excellent catches
at FSL.

If ODIs had been more popular then he might have been able to fit in
as a bits-and-pieces all rounder.

Jayen

I remember a great catch by him at short-leg off the bowling of Venkat
in the test I saw
