Hilf is contracted, so I suspect he will be there. So

Over the next 12 months, Australia will be playing against England a
lot. You'd think that CA wouldn't bother centrally contracting people
if they didn't intend to pick them for the Ashes, and why wouldn't
they contract those they are expecting to pick?

It could be a stupid attempt at mind games - a surprise call-up at the last minute to catch England unprepared.

In a year's time I'd like to come back to this post and compare this list with those who end up playing for Aus in the coming 12 months. I suspect there will be some big changes.

heard Invers saying that he considered Smith good for India due to spion
but not suited for England

Faulkner looked good in the SS final and has a CA contract. As for

the selectors took a lot of pace bowlers to India and only 2 spinners so
I guess on that theory they will take 5 spinners to England :-)
also O'Keefe is out of favour with the selectors

I wouild say at least 6 of that squad were contracted due to 20/20 and
ODI's commitments

I think the selectors will pick them there for one reason... the
cupboard is bare and I mean ***ING bare

Kawhaja is on the nose after not doing his homework and didnt even get a
Test in India when we were desperate. Smith cant get a contract and when
the Chairman of selectors say they picked him basically for India only I
cant see him getting picked.

Yes, because of the dire state of our batting stocks I think that they
will take both Henriques and Maxwell to try and add a bit of depth to
the batting lineup. Marsh will be given his final chance because
Khawaja's been sent to the *** chair. Haddin will be given a
swansong tour before Paine comes in. O'Keefe should get one of the
seamer spots but is out of favour. Harris will get used until he breaks
down, then Bird will be a late call-up even though he should have had
Hilf's spot inn the first place.

medium/quick bowling is Oz's strength (relatively speaking). I'd say take 6,
and only 1 spinner. They're never going to play more than 1 spinner at a
time, and if Lyon does get injured close to game day they can just play an
all pace attack.
