OK, thats even more mysterious.

So, in what scenario would one be able to access groups.google.com vs any other thousands of sites which will provide you live scores?

He's already answered this. His work allows access to the entire google domain for work purposes (including groups.google.com), and restricts access to almost everywhere else.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable explanation to me.

I wonder if any of the cricket/sports sites do email updates of scorecards - he could get them send to a gmail account.

Quite. I have this feeling that one of these days even RSC would be
blocked off :/

That really would be wonderful because my BB (through which I can't
access the internet, incidentally, again due to a 'security policy')
can receive mails to my Gmail a/c.

I have not used any of these but it's doesn't seem that would matter.

- Go to some place where there is regular internet access
- Create a new twitter account.

- use http://tweetymail.com to redirect tweets to your gmail
- Go to work.
- Access gmail to read scores.
- Never again go to the place with regular internet access

I think I have a Twitter ID (#hubli or some such) that I've never used
and if it hasn't been deleted or consigned, what you suggest should
work :)

Thanks a lot.
