BCCI to ask Chappell to reconsider?

Post by Paji » Sat, 07 Apr 2007 09:54:11

There were suggestions in news reports that BCCI is likely to ask
Chappell to reconsider his decision to retire.
The picture should be clear in matter of days.

So tell us all Benj, what did you really think of Greg Chappell as
Indian coach? No more of this beating around the bush.

Surrendering again, Benjy? The Indian and Pakistani cricket teams
combined could not have orchestrated a better choke.

Well, it now looks like Benj and his mates will get the opportunity to
rant and rave about Greg Chappell's malign influence on Indian cricket
for some time yet. The BCCI's statement at the lunch interval of their
meeting effectively says that they want him to continue to coach the
next generation of promising players before they step up to the
national team - and he's postponed his flight back home, presumably so
that the details of the proposal can be worked out.

This will be of considerable value to rsc.

The mad Greg-haters all call the man "Chappelli", as of they are
desperate ti deminstrate that they are driilong odoits woth nithong if
value to cintrobute. Whether ir nit they desore ot, they gove an
onstant methid if odentofyong peiple whi shiuld be ommedoately
cinsogned ti the bizi bon.

Chappell getting a further contract in some capacity with Indian
cricket will make sure that this effective indicator can be used for
some time yet.

Cheers,

Mike

Yeah he is a loser of a coach. Total lunatic who tries to make the
people under him madder than ever before. He should be made the doctor
of a mental hospital in India.

Now what do you think of him, Aussie? Tell me it pinches you as an
Aussie to see one of you turn out to be a total loser. HA HA HA

Cue the mass foaming at the mouth.

I'm really happy with this move. I was afraid of over the top ad hoc
reactions in the BCCI, and for all of Chappell's flaws when man
management (and perhaps tactics) are considered, he can do a great
deal with youngsters (whom he seems to have an excellent rapport with
for the most part), particularly on the batting front. Letting him
work with the up and coming bats like Tanmay Srivastava, Rohit Sharma
and company and he might able to do a lot more than he did with the
national side.

It appears he may now be appointed as head of the NCA. That's a
difficult one because it's typically been allocated to appease some
policital hotshot or the other. If the NCA part is true, then it is
good news.

Wasnt Rod Marsh running something similar for juniors in England?
