World Cup champions Pakistan have reconfirmed their participation
in a six-nation limited-over cricket tournament to be played
across India in November, organisers said Friday.
South Africa, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and hosts
India are the other teams taking part in the event from November
7 to 27 event being organised by the Cricket Association of
Bengal (CAB) to celebrate its diamond jubilee.
Organisers brushed aside suggestions that Pakistan, who have
twice before cancelled tours of India for political reasons, will
pull out of the tournament fearing trouble at their matches.
"As of now, Pakistan's participation is certain," said CAB presi-
dent Jagmohan Dalmiya, the chief organiser of the tournament.
"The Pakistani board has confirmed in writing they will send a
team."
Doubts about Pakistan's tour of India arose after trouble broke
out between rival supporters during a friendly match between
cricketers of the two nations in England last month to raise
funds for Imran Khan's cancer hospital.
