Australian Selectors

The Australian selection panel will now be:

John Inverarity (WA)
Rod Marsh (WA)
Andy Bichel (QLD)
Michael Clarke (NSW)
Mickey Arthur (WA)

Michael Clarke becomes the first NSW person since John Benaud in the
early 1990's to be an Australian selector.

I think Geoff Marsh before becoming coach was the last WA person on
the selection panel and before that Laurie Sawle had a long reign as
Chairman of Selectors.

Greg Chappell in the last summer was the most recent Queenslander on
the selection panel.

The three states that miss out on a voice....

TAS - Previously had David Boon and Jamie Cox on the panel.
SA - Had Andrew Hilditch as the Chairman of Selectors.
VIC - Had Merv Hughes on the panel for several years prior to the
controversial appointment of Greg Chappell.

Why are cricket teams still selected by committee when every other sport
went to a coach decades ago?

footballers and as such should be able to perform competently in all 11
positions. -Alfredo Di Stefano

Not the NSWRL. They had Laurie Daley picking teams up until last year
LOL.

People from a certain state whinge about an alleged NSW bias when they
haven't had a voice at the selection table from John Benaud to the
rise of Michael Clarke.......

If Alvey's NSV had more like Cummins I'd be happy for them to fill the
Aussie team.  Who cares where they come from?

At least there are still some human voices, New Zealand has just
appointed a pie chart as sole selector.  I'm not sure what we'll do
though when the enivatable happens and the pie chart goes down
injured.

Well going to be tough for the new selection panel of Inverarity,
Marsh, Bichel, Clarke and Arthur to pick the team for Brisbane with
Watson, Marsh, Cummins, Harris and Johnson all out.

So team could look like

D Warner
P Hughes
U Khawaja
R Ponting
M Clarke [c]
M Hussey
B Haddin
B Cutting
P Siddle
J Pattinson
N Lyon

Although Cutting has struggled badly in Brisbane, but it's at the
Gabba and he has more consistent form behind him than Starc.

I'm not a great fan of Copeland at International level.
