Check out Matthew Hayden's pride in being a member of the Aus National
team.  Impressive

Maybe he is wiping his sweat on the helmet or scratching an itchy
chin.

I dunno; for sweat, he'd probably use his sleeve; can't rule out the
itching thing.  But to me it pretty darn well looks like he's smooching
the logo.  Guess I tend to look at people in a less cynical light.

Pardon me for saying this, but what is so great in this gesture that it
needs
to be singularly heralded in this manner? Or is it because its an Australian
who is doing it? When Indian players do it, I do not see mails praising
them,
neither by Australians or Indians. Yes, believe it or not, its been done
many
times by Indians as well. Those who saw Rahul Dravid's first century will
remember him kissing the crest in a similar fashion. In Kenya after scoring
a
century in the ICC final Ganguly had kissed his crest. If you dont believe
me

Sachins dedication and pride does not even have to be validated by these
gestures.

Reminds me, when Steve Waugh came last year to India to help his charity,
there were many mails by Indians praising him and some putting down our own
players for not doing any charity work as well, who instead fatten
themselves
up doing commercials. Since then I remember Sachin being involved in
promotion
polio shots, and Ganguly raising money to save a dying boy. There was
absolute
silence in this forum on this, especially from those ready to stamp down our
own guys. I know you havent put down any of our players but I'm just
pointing
out that its nothing out of the blue.

Chill out.  I saw the picture and posted about it.  And who said anything
about anyone being good people or not.  Boy, talk of extrapolation ....
