Drop Hick for Alan Wells ?

Drop Hick for Alan Wells ?

You must agree Hick has had his chance. People were saying
"Ah yes Hick's finally come good," when he made his 178 against India,
but to be honest the scores haven't really piled up have they ? If the
England management insist on using Alec Stewart in a dual role as
keeper/opener, then let Smith come in at three, Thorpe four, and Wells
at number five. Thats if you are not going to include two out of
Rampers, Crawley and Gallian. Isn't it about time he deserved an
outing. But critics will always say that picking someone of Wells' age
isn't really planning for the future and that Wells hasn't got many
Test playing days left within him.
There seems to be an on going thing about persisting with Hick...but
for how long ? A change is required. But it wouldn't suprise me if
if/when Hick is dropped he makes a heap or runs and is recalled again.
It seems to me that the selectors are judging Hick on what he can do
at county level and not what he does at Test level, and they think
he can emulate his heavy county level scoring in the test arena. But
the thing is he can't and never will because he lacks the technique
and ability to survive and score against high quality test bowling on
a consistent basis. And this is what they cannot get into their heads.
They are waiting for him to repeat those great run scoring feats but
it's not happening. They have persevered with him long enough...He
would have been better off playing for Zimbabwe..at least his place in
the squad wouldn't be in constant jepardy.
