Michael Hussey -- Outstanding

Outstanding performance from Michael Hussey. The fifty or sixty odd he
added today have helped Australia to post a competitive total. This
might well be the difference between winning and losing. He has batted
well with the tail in the recent past too.

I hope he gets a hundred this time too.

If SA could catch the game would just about be over by now.

McGrath in yet another 50 run last wicket stand (contibuting 2 off 24 balls)
LOL

Was Hussey dropped?.  If so, who dropped him?

Kallis dropped him in one of the first couple of overs this morning, can't
remember which one or what score he was on - not a sitter but it should
definately have been taken.

More to the point -- outstanding batting by Glenn McGrath.  The man has
truly
improved his batting.  Just 4 runs, but an extremely valuable 4 runs as
Australia
has added nearly 70 runs while he was there.

Shows the value of tail-enders sticking around when a top-order batsman is
around.

Hussey seems to have made some effort to collar the strike, having faced
more than 2/3 of the bowling in this partnership, but McGrath has battled
out there for 40+ balls.

Hussey will owe Glen a carton of crownies if he see's him to another 100.
Record last wicket partnership V SA of 82 in danger also.

Certainly.

As I write, Hussey reaches his hundred. Congratulations!

Just heard the answer on nine, dropped on 27 by Kallis.  Add that to the
drop of Ponting on 17.

Well, I hope Alvey and Richie Benaud send their apologies for berating
Nel for his celebrations at getting McGrath first ball . . . :)

And now, or so the guys on the radio say, the only man to be involved
in two 100 run 10th wicket partnerships in Tests.

I didn't see Hussey's knock, but to put on 90 odd whilst allowing
McGrath to face just 56 balls is really good play. McGrath deserves
some kudos as well.

Can't argue with the outstanding designation
McGrath hung in there too. Did Aus proud

I have seen Hussey's knock and it was simply brilliant. As the
partnership grew, Hussey was confident that McGrath would stay with
him long enough for his century. After the century you could read his
lips saying to McGrath, "thanks mate for staying with me".

What surprised me was South African bowling indiscipline. They
continuously bowled outside the off stump to McGrath and he was happy
to leave them alone. McGrath's sweep shots to Boye were great.

Finally, Kallis will remember his dropped catch for a while. Score was
9/248. Hussey was on 27. He tried to cut Pollock. It was a regulation
slip catch little above his head and to his right. Ball was not
traveling fast at all. Kallis grassed it! Oh dear!

Best Regards,
Halekala
