attn aslam or anyone: data request: Test and FC batting averages

I've just finished reading Life's Grandeur by Prof. Stephen Jay Gould,
professional palaeontologist and amateur baseball statistician. He makes the
claim that Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak* of 1941 may be the
greatest achievement in modern sport. I would like to use cricket stats to
find out whether Don Bradman's Test or FC average could be said to be
greater than that.

I would like two tables, batting averages in Test and FC cricket. Including
name, country, career span, matches, innings, not outs, runs, average, HS.
Listing every man in each if possible, or as many as can be found.

The table would be able to tell me whether Bradman was further ahead of the
pack than DiMaggio. The next longest hitting streak in US major league
baseball is 41 games IIRC and there are a bunch of people in the upper 30s.
So DiMaggio is a very long way in front.

* This means, DiMaggio scored a safe hit in each of 56 consecutive games in
the 1941 season.

cheers
