First class record

Vijay - 42 matches Average 48.64 8 100's
Mukund - 42 matches Average 56.95 13 100's.

Why was Vijay selected before Mukund?

Perhaps friend of the Srikkanth family in Chennai?

Are you talking about the original pick 2-3 years ago? At that time I
don't even know if Mukund was playing Ranji's -- he's about 4-5 years
younger, IIRC (without looking it up)

Not looking at the stats but Vijay had some good domestics around
2007-08 and he made 41 and 33 in his first test against Australia
coming in at short notice. Plus some good outings at IPL Level.

Mukund is the more placid of the two, a stayer than a dasher. I've
always felt Vijay was a better bat as he's a strokeplayer but was
proved wrong this series. That said, both will be dead meat in England.

Don't think Vijay is going to England.

I can't understand why Badrinath has not been given a shot - with his
domestic record and also he did play decently in the 2 tests against
SA (at least one fifty) - rather bizarre.
