If I do a little rearranging to geet a batting order I get I guess
the 7 best batsmen in the WI? Now this raises the question. Is Carl
Hooper finished as a test batsman?  The West Indies don't have
the ideal batting situation with Haynes ageing they will soon have
no strong openers. I've seen Richardson open in the England series,
I don't like that. The question is if Haynes retires and the other
six batsmen above are the best would Richardson open with Adams?
Lara with Adams? Richardson with Chanderpaul? Chanderpaul with Lara?
Adams with Chanderpaul? If not given the relative stability that has
been achieved with Richardson, Lara, Adams, Arthurton and Chanderpaul
it still leaves on opening. Is Richardson happy opening? Is there
another good opener in the WI. What about Williams S.?

I think that this is confused, I have Williams down for 1-2-0-6-6-6.00-0
before the WI tour of Aus, his figures were 2-4-0-15-15-3.75-0 here.
And from my series averages he hasn't played a test since. That leaves
1-2-1-24-21*-24.00-0 which conviently fits with Stuart (?) Williams
who played the fifth test against England as an opener.

I've read that Hooper's injury wasn't all that serious, and
the real reason he didn't play was that he was cheesed off with the West
Indies selectors for some reason. Apparently he intends to devote his efforts
solely to Kent in future. In any case, as you imply, with the success of
Lara, Adams and Chanderpaul, he might not have got back in (though WI
might have missed his off-spin in the last 2 Tests - Adams and Chanderpaul
aren't as good spinners.

I believe that the opener who came in for the 5th Test was making his debut,
but there's a wicketkeeper called David Williams who's played a few Tests
for WI prior to the series
against England.
