These stats seem meaningless to me. It puts first class & test
cricket in the same category which is not correct. A full time
test player will be made to look weak. The averages would
be far higher if they were simply playing first class rather
than test cricket.

In any case it makes absolutely no sense comparing first-class
statistics of a player in Tamil Nadu and one in Queensland. They
play different teams, of different standards for different
competitions under different set of rules.

Also could be valid but I think that the difference between first
class cricket in various test playing countries is not nearly as
great as the difference in the level of first class vrs test cricket.

I only have to look at South Africa to see guys who consistantly
make centuries at first class level are not performing at test
level. Players (eg Rhodes) who have been dropped due to
lack of form are immediately hitting century after century
in first class level I have no doubt that every test batsman
would most probably average upto 33% higher in his own
countries first class cricket After all test teams are the cream
of the first class cricketers playing each other.
