Manish Patel was injured early in the season, a hamstring I
believe. I think he's recovered now. However, there is just no room for
him in the Bombay 11 at the moment.
Bombay in this game decided to go with 5 bowlers, 5 bats and a
keeper. Considering the 5 bats are Manoj Joglekar, Sachin Tendulkar,
Sanjay Manjrekar, Vinod Kambli and Amol Muzumdar, thats not entirely
unreasonable, I suppose :-) In addition, Dighe (the keeper) can bat and
actually opens the batting for Bombay now. And the #7 is
Bahutule, another good bat who already has 1 ton this season.
However, even with 5 bowlers, there is no room for the likes of
Manish Patel or Mahesh Karanjkar etc - the 5 bowlers are pacemen Abey
Kuruvilla, Salil Ankola and Paras Mhambrey, left arm orthodox spinner
Nilesh Kulkarni, and leggie Sairaj Bahutule. Not only is that a good
attack, it also is fairly balanced.
I presume that if Bombay plays on a very green track in either
the semis or finals (hopefully :-), they might go with 4 pacemen - in
which case Manish Patel will probably make the side. If not, I dont see
him replacing any of the top 3 pacemen (presuming no injuries).

I don't see the name of Manish Patel in the Bombay bowling lineup.
I believe that Manish Patel bowled in the semifinals and the finals for
Bombay last year, and was very successful. If true, what happened to
him?
