Warne, Mushtaq, best figures ???

Post by Bruce Klett » Wed, 11 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I have held the view for a while that the top wicket taking
bowlers are better strike bowlers on green bouncy wickets
than slow turning dust pitches.  A view which was reinforced
by Mushtaq's performance in Durban.
I feel that they get a much faster turn and bounce, which makes
them virtually unplayable.

I would love to back this up with some stats, so I am looking
for the best 5 test bowling performances of Warne and Mushtaq,
along with the venues that they occurred on.

Anybody point me in the right direction ?

Cheers

Warne, Mushtaq, best figures ???

Warne's best figures are:
8-71    v England       GABBA           Australia
7-23    v Pakistan      GABBA           Australia
7-52    v West Indies   MCG             Australia
7-56    v South Africa  SCG             Australia
6-31    v New Zealand   Hobart          Australia

outside of Australia, 6-48  v  England,  Manchester, I'm pretty sure
those stats are correct.

Not too sure about Mushtaq, his best figures are 7-56. He's taken most
of his best figures in the last 2 years, so it would be best to check
out www.cricinfo.org and check out his stats.

hope this helped

Thanks.  I am about to start another thread, using these figures, entitled

Warne vs Mushtaq (and the pitches) :-)

Cheers
