Australia has won the toss and has decided to bat.  Kandy in the recent past
has favoured the bowling side on the first day.  Could be Zoysa's big
chance.

Is Kandy like a typical Oz pitch if you can get through the first session
only 1 or 2 down it becomes a good batting strip?

I hate the toss. Would rather just be one toss at the beginning of the
series
and the Captain who wins then can give the opposition Captain the choice
or take it himself. Then for the rest of the series then it rotates.

Only problem I can see is the home groundsman knowing who will have
the choice may doctor the pitch

exactly!!! the accusations of pitch doctoring would fly thicker and quicker
than now.

Yes, pretty much so, although most test matches played there recently have
been relatively low scoring ones.  Has a decent amount of bounce and pace
the first day, will assist spinners during the later part of the game.
Kandy has been experiencing rain last two days, which is very unusual for
this time of the year.  So one would think that there will be fair bit of
grass on the pitch, which may assist fast bowling through out the game?

Get Hayden early, and they have a shot.  Once the guy settles in, the rest
of the team feeds off him.

WTF is the current SoB not playing?

looked like it had quite a bit of grass on it when I saw it on the news,
will be interesting to see how it behaves over the game if you think it may
be under prepared due to the weather.

I love it that the Kandy Ground is privately owned by Trinity College, I
didn't realise this, very interesting

Actually, Trinity College authorities want test cricket to go away.  There
is a proposal for a new ground in Kandy, SL Cricket may even have started
building it.  So test cricket probably will be played at this ground only
for few more years at the most.

7.5 Zoysa to Hayden, no run, Drops him!! Pitching out side the off
stumps, Goes for a drive gets a thick out side edge and a straight
forward catch to Captain at first slips who drops it.

catches win matches, I remember when Aus couldn't take a catch if it was
served on a plate, very depressing times for aus cricket

Why Lokuarachchi over Herath? I thought Herath was the better bowler at
this point in time?

Start of a very bad test for SL I reckon. Dont know why but I just get this
feeling that SL will really struggle in this test.

Don't know if you've got vision or not Laz, but you wouldn't want to
have been watching Hashan drop Hayden.

It was really a catch that no first slip fielder should drop. It came
off the bat cleanly and Hashan saw this, dropped to one knee, had both
his hand there waiting for the ball to come to him - exactly the way any
slips fielder should.

Except as soon as the ball hit the hands it fell back out again.

Just as I type - Zoysa has Langer out...
