Muralitharan the best, says Australian captain Ricky Ponting

Copied from Hindustan Times.

This should be of interest to certain RSCers who live down under. Is
this is the new style of 'mental disintegration' tactics :-)

Cheers

----------------------------------------------
Australian one-day captain Ricky Ponting on Wednesday rated
controversial Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan the world's
best bowler.
And Ponting admitted he did not know how to play the little wizard who
has been no-balled for throwing on previous Australian tours.

Hvaing recovered from injury, Muralitharan is expected to be back in
the firing line tomorrow when his country take on Australia at the
Sydney Cricket Ground in a tri-nations series one-day clash.

Ponting forecast Muralitharan's return would spell danger for the rest
of the Sri Lankan bowling attack, with Australia set to target his
team-mates.

Ponting conceded his team-mates were likely to take a softly, softly
approach with the Sri Lankan talisman and wield the big stick on the
rest of the tourists' bowling.

Asked how Australia would play Muralitharan, Ponting replied: "Who
knows? I think just knowing how important a player he is for their
side, you negate him as much as you can and try to score off the other
bowlers.

"He might be bowling very well and back into his stride tomorrow. If
he is, it's going to be very hard for any of our batsmen to get on top
of him."

Muralitharan has been a high-profile spectator on Sri Lanka's tour so
far after undergoing a hernia operation and he has been sorely missed.

The Sri Lankans have lurched from one disaster to another in his
absence, culminating in Tuesday's embarrassing capitulation against
Australia A. But his return will give the struggling tourists an
instant shot in the arm.

This is reverse psychology by the Australians.  Murali has been out for a
long time and I don't think he is fully fit.  Aussies will massacre the Sri
Lankans to-morrow IMO, although I would love to be proven wrong.

Maybe you can just accept the compliment to Murali on face value. But a
whinger like you isn't able to. Everything is a *** to you. You
remind me of my father who came from a war torn country; believes Australia
has communists everywhere, big brother's pulling strings, etc, etc, etc,
blah, blah, blah.........

Enjoy your time in the sun, they won't even make the super 6 playoff.
Nigel

PS: You can save this email & ram it down my throat if Sri Lanka do make it.

What compliment dude? I was replying to Linus's post saying

"Aussies will massacre the Sri Lankans to-morrow IMO, although I would love
to be proven wrong."

So what the hell are you on about or more aptly, on?

Thanks for that assessment. The cheque is in the
mail.............................

Really? Wow!! The world IS flat!! Men never landed on the moon! JFK was
killed by aliens and poor old Harold Holt was ***ped by the ***y
Japanese whale hunters!! Yippee!!......................You stupid jerk!

And what IS wrong with a communist? I'm a proud socialist ALP left winger
anyday rather than being a Liberal party capitalist pig.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of constant video surveillance of people but I can
see the need for it, especially for security and crime reasons in certain
instances. So your dear father is/was right. Maybe you should respect and
listen to him like a good son should. You might surprise yourself and learn
a few things from your very clever and widely experienced old man who has
lived longer than you.

No problems. You may well be right here. I have constantly picked South
Africa to win the World cup on their home grounds.

Nah, not worth the effort Nigel. You seem like a pretty good bloke to me,
just a bit confused and lost at the moment. Just listen to your old father
dude, assuming he is still alive and well. Far too late to do this when they
are dead, as with my case.
