WI 9-256 (50 ov, Lara 66, Julian 3-33)
lost to ACB Chairman's XI 7-258 (Moody 66 Julian 96*).

Brilliant Brendon Julian shattered the West Indies
in their opening tour match at picteresque Lilac Hill.
The chairman's XI team composed of hte usual
mixture of current Western Australians and past
champions bowled first. Lillee and Thomson opened
the bowling and first change was Michael Holding.
Julian made the first breakthrough in what turned
out to be a consistent innings in which most of the
batsmen made starts but never went on with it.
But more importantly BJ returend late in the innings
to take 2 more wickets, finishing with hte best
figures of 3-33 in 8 overs. Thomson 41 in 6,
& Lille 54 in 10 were expensive.Holding 31 in 8
not so. Lara made 66 and a bunch of guys made
20's and 30's.

When the chairman's XI batted Bishop quickly
cleaned up Lehmann, but left handers Hussey
adn Langer steadied things with a 52 run
partnership. But things fell apart as the team
collapsed to 6/95. But at this point, a tall
dark handsome stranger ambled out to crease.
Yes! Our hero BJ!!!!!

With Moody, BJ put on 148 in 15 overs.... He
smashed 7 fours, and 6 sixes in an innings of 96 not out
off 52 balls!!!!!! What a legend! Hooper went for 46
off 6 overs, and Adams 33 off 2!! Julian took 26 off
one over!. Moody made a fine 66 in 74 balls despite batting
with a runner.

In the end the ACB Chairman's XI won by 3 wickets
with a massive 8 overs to spare.
Lets all  hope Julian carries this form into the season
proper!

Knowing Australians' opinions of the standard of the County
Champioonship,.= I hesitate to suggest that playing for Surrey may have
sharpened up his game :)
