Saeed Anwar's Innings

Saeed Anwar's Innings

I don't understand why some people are so hung up on putting Saeed
Anwar's innings down. The bottom line is that he broke the world record.
The logic these people give is absolutely senseless. Do these
people mean to say that Viv Richards or any other great batsman for that
matter did not play on small grounds or with a runner. Or are they
implying that Saeed Anwar is not a competent batsmen. Saeed, as we all
know was the second highest scorer last year and has as many centuries in
One Day Cricket as Tendulkar. He has a batting average og almost 50 in
Tests as well.
The whole world is admiring this inning of Saeed's and here is
this bunch of people picking bones out of it. You are not a cricket fan if
you can't appreciate this inning. Most batsmen would have left the field
in the condition Saeed was in. These people do not appreciate that Saeed
was able to maintain his concentration for such a long time under such
trying cicumstances.
Another thing. IMO Dravid is a very good batsman and yet again
there are people who don't recognise his class. I believe that he is a
very bright prospect for India.

Well, I'm sure Viv or any other great batsman would not have the indecency
of only batting in the match after and not take the field.  A great
cricketer does not shy away from fielding because he would be too tired to
bat.  That  is a unsporting attitude.  If he was so burned out than he
should not have played in the match after.

Well if you have a runner for yourself, then obviously one would be able
to maintain the concentration for a long time, since half of your tension
is shared by somebody else.

OK Renal. Saeed Anwar is an indecent batsmen and hence not great either.
I hope you're satisfied now.
