Inexperienced New Zealand Test players

I don't have a confirmation yet, however this newsgroup tells me that Vettori
had appeared in only two first-class matches before making his Test debut; a
rather brief apprenticeship. Here is the list of New Zealanders who made their
Test debuts after appearing in less than 10 first-class matches. It may be
somewhat out of date. Any additions and corrections will be appreciated. The
first column lists the number of first-class matches before their initial Test
appearance (the debut Test is listed):

0   GE Vivian      v Ind   Calcutta       1964-65
1   DL Freeman     v Eng   Christchurch   1932-33
1   JC Alabaster   v Pak   Karachi        1955-56
2   DL Vettori     v Eng   Wellington     1996-97
4   DD Taylor      v Eng   Christchurch   1946-47
5   JEF Beck       v RSA   Johannesburg   1953-54
6   V Pollard      v Ind   Madras         1964-65
7   TW Jarvis      v Ind   Madras        1964-65
8   BP Bracewell   v Eng   The Oval       1978

Vettori played one Shell Trophy game for Northern Districts and one game
against the English touring side before his test debut.

Other players of the last few years who have had short apprenticeships
include Kerry Walmesley, Geoff Allot and Greg Loveridge.  The last in
particular I doubt played 10 first class games before his (admittedly
short) test debut.

This is interesting.
I wonder how many test players are there who made their debut before
playing in any first class match.
