Ind vs Zim, Day 3, 1st Test, Kotla, New Delhi:
Zimbabwe were comfortably placed at the end of the third days play,
in reply to Indias' mammoth total of 536/7 decl. After an initial setback,
having  been 81/3 at one stage, Zimbabwe recovered to 152/3, thanks to
some good batting display by the Flower brothers, who were involved
in a 69 run stand.

Earlier, India declared their inngs closed at 536/7. Kambli could add 20
more runs to his overnight 207n.o before being out for 227; thus being
unfortunate to miss Gavaskars'record(236) by 9 runs. India lost some quick
wkts. today in trying to accelerate their scoring rate. Kapil was out for
16 and Yadav for 13.  But then Amre(52n.o.) and Kumble(18n.o) steadied the
Indian inngs, the former hitting a huge six just before the declaration.

India 1st inngs.  536/7 decl( P'kar 3, Sidhu 61, Kambli 227, T'kar 62,
                         Azhar 42, Kapil 16, Amre 52 n.o., Kumble 18n.o.)

Zim 1st inngs.     152/3(Andy Flower 46)

First Test, Day 3  Eng vs. SL,  Colombo.
Sri Lanka overhauled the tourists score of 380 just after tea today
and were 408/8 at close. The game probably will end in a tame draw,
with the pitch playing quite easy, remaining hard and unscathed even
at the end of the third day.
Earlier yesterday, Eng finished their inngs at 380, skipper Stewart
making a useful contribution of 63. He later took 3 catches behind
the stumps today; an overall satisfactory performance.

England 1st inngs 380 all out ( Smith 128, Stewart 63, Lewis 22 r.o.,
                                Muralidhar 4/118)
Sri Lanka 1st inngs.  408/8  ( H'Singhe 59, G'Singhe 43, A DeSilva 80,
                               Ranatunga 64, T'ratne 51n.o., M'dhar 32n.o.)

Aus vs NZ, 3rd Test, Day 4, Eden Park, Auckland:

The Kiwis seem to be on the road to victory; 'exercising caution' because
of the see-saw nature of this closely contested game.  The Kiwis need to
win this match to square the series.  They require 33 more runs with 5 wkts
remaining; not a formidable task to achieve.

Aus 1st inngs:  139 all out
NZ 1st inngs:   224 all out

Aus 2nd inngs:  285 all out(Boon 53, Martin 74, Border 71, Hughes 21,
                            Patel 5/93)
NZ 2nd inngs :  168/5 (G'Batch 29, Wright 33, Rutherford 33n.o.,Blaine 19n.o.)
