Some weird decisions are given these days by umpires who are not fit to don
the white coat. A comedy of errors was performed on Sunday by an umpire who
stood in the Division Two match between Nugegoda Sports Club and Lankan CC
at Kotte.
It is reported that when NSC were batting their second innings, their
batsman Shashika Tillakaratne on 96 edged a ball off his pads down the
leg-side and an appeal was made for a leg-before decision.
However, the umpire upheld the appeal only after the batsman had completed
the second run. When asked why he took so much time to give his verdict, the
umpire stated that he needed time to think about it.
