Ashes consolation...

Ashes consolation...

Post by Lind » Wed, 06 Jan 1999 04:00:00

There is some small consolation to be had out of the final result of the
Ashes series.

None of us at the Wheatsheaf predicted it. I thought for a moment that Zito
was going to bag the 25 *** pounds with his 2-2 offering, but no. We were
all rubbish. Which means....

Yes! We have to meet to drink the kitty! I've got it in writing! Obviously
we need a little time for the New Year's supply of alza-seltzer to disperse,
but after that we must be on for the post-Ashes memorial drink. So, the
usual suspects should be alerted to this and come up with any fantastic
suggestions for a date that might occur to them. And of course, any unusual
suspects will be as welcome as ever.

What about you, Mike Holmans? Fancy picking a date that you might be free
on? ;-)

Ashes consolation...

Oh well, I stayed up late to watch England chasing for victory...after
Hick got out, I gave the ghost up and went to bed, knowing that Windie
is also going to lose-- heavily, 5-0 to SA. I had since gave up on the
motley crew since Richardson (& the WICB) took over and made a hash of
it by "sleeping" during the match (I'm referring to his "fatigue
disorder" that put him out of game) and some comic, if not bold
captaincy decisions. It have been all downhill despite Lara's momentous
1994.
I did made some predictions a long time ago that WI will start losing
test series heavily to the major cricket nation and that they have a
long, long, long time to return to competitiveness. Maybe not in my
lifetime (Crofty would be not be around to make his usual "pilot's
articles" when WI start winning series).

Cheers
Zito.

But when do you want to meet to drink the kitty, Zito ;-) How about some
time in February?

BTW, we now have photographic evidence of our two UK meets which Jackie is
threatening to add to her website... <gulp>
