Gavaskar, Srikkanth and Mohinder Amarnath in Sydney, D1, 1985-6.  I am sure
there would be others.

Incorrect, Amarnath was 72* at stumps on Day 1. Surely it's happened
before, but I can't find it. My guess is it's never happened with all
three batsmen beginning their innings.

Closest I can find is Test # 154, England v South Africa, 1924, 2nd
Test, Lord's, where Hobbs and Sutcliffe began Day 2 both on 12*, went
on to score hundreds, as did the #3, Wolley. While 2 of the 3 batsmen
didn't begin on 0, they each did score 100 or more runs in a single day.

Right.

Note to self: stick to cricket politics and don't try to be an Aslam.

Another one that's close, but doesn't quite fit the criteria:

Test # 1560, Asian Test Championship, 2001-02, 1st Match, Pakistan v
Bangladesh, Multan

Inzy started Day 2 on 25* and went on to retire hurt on 105*. Yousuf
and Razzaq also scored unbeaten centuries.

The first example was at The Oval on 11 Aug 1884. Australia closed the day
on 2/363. McDonnell had been dismissed for 102 and Murdoch and Scott were
both not out at the close (145* & 101*). On the following day Billy Murdoch
went on to 211 - the first double century in a Test.

I'll draw up a list later.
