it has bias for nz. i think desilva is the best ODI batsman. Kirtein,
Saeed Anwar and Tendulker and Lara are equally good. Bevan, Astle, etc.
have not yet played enough matches to show their consistancy. I mean
bevan has recently become a regualr player in AU team. Same is true with
astle. here is my first 11 for ODI:
Gary Kirtein
Saeed Anwar
Tendulker
D' Silva
Brain Lara
Mark Waugh
McMillan
Rashid Latif
Wasim Akram
Ambrose
Kumble
Donald

Here is my test 11:
Saeed Anwar
Artherton
Brian Lara
Steve Waugh
Tandulker
Cronsie
Richardson
Waquar
Ambrose
Donald
Warne

PS: Akram is equally comptetant to get a slot in test 11.

I can't believe people still leave out 'Cyclone Sanath' from
their world XI's.

NO SACHIN,NO ANWAR,NO SANA
GERMON!!!
I don't think Germon should even keep for NZ.Adam Parore serves the
purpose and is a better then decent batsmen.Think about it Germon who
bats low in the order and is only a decent keeper or a good batsmen and
a decent keeper. One of Germon's good points is that he can captain and
is gutsy.
Cairns is choice, but come on this is double bias.NZ bias and Cantab bias
I don't blame you I guess I am a bit biased as well.

Never really thought he was that good a ODI player, maybe aravinda would
be a better
choice or anyone else from the plethora of players available : SRT etc
etc

Yes, very good

Drop Cairns and replace him with : Nick Knight - very promising
left-hander who
demolished Pakistan's bowling with two consectuive centuries in this
Summer
and in the team for the foreseeable future

Good choice

Drop Germon and put someone like : Warren Hegg, Dave Richardson, Jack
Russell, Moin Khan
        - personally I'd chose Hegg - an outstanding wicket-keeper (but I'm
biased)
check out his progress for England 'A'. But there are better keepers
available
than Germon and Akram would defnitely make the better captain

World class spin option, if he's back in form

Plays for West Indies unless he's changed natonality ;) and can be very
lethal

I don't think larsen was unlucky, just no room for him in this side! ;-)

**** NO guesses for where you're from mate?
Nathan Astle for god's sake, i mean, the guy couldn't even***
Tendulkar's boots. Where is the great SRT  ? No Steve Waugh either. And
for wicketkeeper, for f**k's sake, who the f**k is Lee Germon? You have
Healy, Gilchrist, Mongia, Richardson yet you go to Germon. Personally  I
would use Alec Stewart as keeper-opener for 1days. Here's my XI

                        1) Sachin Tendulkar
                        2) Alec Stewart (wkt)
                        3) Brian Lara
                        4) Mark Waugh
                        5) Aravinda de Silva
                        6) Steve Waugh
                        7) Wasim Akram
                        8) Darren Gough
                        9) Waqar Younis
                       10) Curtly Ambrose
                       11) Mustaq Ahmed

I think for 1-days i'd prefer Mushy to Shane Warne though never in the
test arena. with the Waughs and Tendulkar you have plenty to back
up the bowling. Unlucky to miss out - Jayasuria, Bevan, McMillan, Warne,
McGrath

And no prize for guessing where you are from.  Just how can Darren Gough
make it to a world XI.  And an attack with all pacers?  They will lose
all the match fee for bowling over time (as also being given just 40
overs to bowl (apart from being whacked around for 350+ runs)).  I think
2spinners + 3***s or other way is optimal depending on the wicket.

My ODI World XI
1) Jayasuriya
2) Gary Kirsten
3) Mark Waugh
4) Sachin Tendulkar
5) Brian Lara
6) Aravinda DeSilva
7) Ian Healy (w)
8) Wasim Akram (c)
9) Shane Warne
10) Anil Kumble
11) Curtly Ambrose

Waugh, Tendulkar and DeSilva can complete the 5th bowlers quota.

I've resisted all these best team threads but I just have a couple of
comments in general.  One fast bowler whose name I haven't seen, but I
believe deserves to be here is Fanie de Villiers.  Admittedly, he is
often unlucky when it comes to getting wickets, but he seems to give
away very few runs.
Though I'm an Aussie myself, I don't know about including MWaugh.
I think that he is very tempermental, and I think that there are a number
of more consistent ODI scorers in recent times.

Cheers
Dhruv

<snip>

Surely the two Sri Lankan openers are the best opening combination at
the moment.  Then followed by Tendulkar, Waugh M, Waugh S, and Lara in
whatever order you like.

Not bad, but I see no place for Cairns and Astle and Germon.
Ian Healy or Dave Richardson can be there as well.
Openers you could go for Saeed Anwar.
I liked the way you have choosen other options not bad at all.

Just a few changes and it would be a good side.
