World Cup should be held every year

: I think we should have the world cup every year. Any suggestions are welcome
: to why or why not should we have this. 4 years is a long time. So many players
: don't even get the chance that they deserve to play. And this will also show
: each country's strength and weaknesses.

: I am all for it. It's a win win situation for all of us. The organisers gain,
: the players gain and last but not least the fans.

: Imagine watching these kind of matches every year.

This will devalue the WC. Familiarity breeds contempt, and part of the
e***ment of the WC is the long wait and anticipation of a feast of
cricket. I would rather see a plan to produce a World Test League, where
teams play each other over four years to decide the best test team. This
is long overdue.

Does anyone knows of any cricket clubs in central NJ? I will appreciate any
leads.

Also, I think there should have been consolation matches to decide the third
and fourth place. I don't care who wins, but I sure will get to watch more
cricket.

Lastly, congratulations to Sri Lanka. Job well done boys.

No thanks. I think the WC has been poor. The initial stages were a formality
and only the Australia v W Indies game stood out later on. Ok I enjoyed
watching Sri Lanka bat but the dull cricket still out weighed the exciting
criket.

I still prefer test cricket.

But teams change far too much over a 4 year period that it wouldn't work. Also a
group containing 8 teams would mean 14 matches in 4 years. (Home and Away) Thats
70 test matches. That's 17.5 test matches a year. In England with the county
championship as well would mean a very long season with a lot of injuries and
other problems. The only way that idea can take off is suspend all domestic
cricket throughout the test teams and just play tests. This would send cricket
into decline faster than it already is. Also what about one-day internationals
would they be scrapped too!!

It will be a good idea to have the World cup every year. It can
be arranged on the model of American Baseball leauge. The whole
thing can be completed in 2 or 3 weeks. It is definitely a win
win situation for the game, players and spectators.

first of all, not many people then will give a damn about the yearly
world cup just because its gonna be so frequently played. think what
expectations people had been building up for the past 4 years. it would
definitely lose its charm.
then, theres a lot of financial preparation every team needs to take which
wont be very beneficial towards some of the developing countries economy.
however, i agree that more series etc should be played to constantly spur
greater interests among cricket fans worldwide.
for the same reason governments dont hold elections every year. some stability
is needed everywhere, also in letting the world champs enjoy their triumph
over the other teams.
