Nagpur: A Jet Airways plane carrying the Australian and Indian cricket teams
to Mumbai made an emergency landing at the airport here on Monday after
being hit by a bird, said an Indian team official.
The Nagpur-Mumbai chartered flight took off at 9.40 am but had to land again
after being bird-hit.
"It's not a big issue and no one panicked as a plane being hit by a bird is
a common phenomenon and the pilot decided to land again for a technical
check-up," an official said.
The team members were later accommodated in a city hotel close to the
airport and the flight was grounded.
Jet Airways sources in New Delhi said a ferry service would be launched from
Mumbai to pick up the Australian cricket team and a few Indian players
waiting at a hotel there.
The flight will reach Nagpur at 1:15 pm and then return to Mumbai.
