Ranji Trophy Final update, End of Day 1

Just a brief score at the end of the days play, no real details.
Game is being played at ***hede in Bombay, Punjab won the toss and put
Bombay in to bat. At the end of the first day, Bombay are 257 for the
loss of one wicket. Sameer Dighe with 123* and Sanjay Manjrekar with
110* are at the crease. We have no futher details, but I presume the
Bombay batsman out is probably Manoj Joglekar - and that probably fairly
early in the day, since 233 runs seem to have come of the bats of Dighe
and Manjrekar alone.
Earlier, in today mornings newspaper in India, SRT had
apparently said that he thought 450 would be a good score. He had also
praised the Bombay bowling in earlier matches, but criticised the
batting saying that there was a lot of room for improvement.
It seems to me (unless time was lost in the day) that this is
the first time in about 3 matches that the Bombay bats so far have put
their heads down and built an inning, the way they used to in the old
days. Both the quarters vs TN and the semis vs UP ended in about 2 and a
quarter days, but in neither did the Bombay bats show their staying
powers and greed for runs. Its about time they did :-) Its specially
commendable coming from Dighe - he's a natural strokeplayer who loves to
hit the ball, he must really have reined himself in, to have scored just
123 in a full day's batting.
